Committed to the environment

 

Environmental management encompasses all aspects of our business, primarily, we aim to minimise our greenhouse gas emissions, our consumption of energy and resources and our production of waste.

Transport

We use transport companies that are aiming for the most fuel-efficient fleets in the marketplace by investing in and adopting viable and proven technologies. Through driver education, planning and vehicle monitoring they minimise their transport miles avoiding congestion and reducing fuel consumption.

One of the pallet networks we use has:

• Increased the number of the latest Euro 6 fuel efficient trucks to 72% in the last two years and will continue to increase this figure in 2021
• Increased their capacity per trip in each of our vehicles through expanding the number of longer length and double decker trailers.
• 70% of their group vehicles on a centralised telematics system ensuring they can monitor and evaluate idolising and MPG fleet wide.
• Collaborated with us to proactively ensure they reduce CO₂ through reduction of empty miles and cost, ensuring they are fully committed to a sustainable supply chain.
• Reduced the usage of diesel across their group fleet in several ways that includes dual purpose forklift trucks which are powered by gas and electricity.
• Transitioned 80% of their group businesses to renewable energy, from a brown to a green, clean energy provider

Technology / Operations

We are investing heavily in technology that will deliver the sustainable supply chains of tomorrow. New forklift trucks purchased have the latest Lithium-Ion  batteries with revolutionary charging systems and battery optimisation for measured energy output.

Investment in our modern cloud-based warehouse management system means we can deliver a fully paperless solution that works with all major shopping carts and marketplaces. 

Packaging

In addition to reducing bulk packaging, we are also happy to work with customers on product packaging design. This can help to cut waste, reduce freight costs, and help our customers reduce their carbon footprint.

We also work closely with our customers on their packaging requirements and can supply many forms of recycled and environmentally friendly packaging options as required.

Waste materials (cardboard / plastics) wherever possible are recycled using a local waste recycling plant http://www.essexreclamation.com/ and we aim to minimise our waste to landfill.

Working with Charities

 

We’re proud to work with the following charity.

As a family run business, we are very keen to support a local charity and we are proud to have chosen the St. Helena Hospice. We, as a family, have had first-hand experience of support and guidance from the staff at St Helena and will be forever grateful for their kindness and help at a very difficult time.

St Helena Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care to local people facing incurable illness in North East Essex, supporting them, their families, friends and carers.

They provide individual care and total support wherever it is needed; at home, over the phone with their 24/7 advice line, and at the hospice.

They also help adults in North East Essex to cope with grief following the death of a loved one, regardless of where or how they died.

They reach out to members of our community, helping them make their own choices and live with dignity. By focusing on their physical, emotional and spiritual needs, they aim to bring comfort and relief to all those who need it, offering the people of North Essex individual care and total support, regardless of their diagnosis or personal circumstances.

Their goal is to be there every step of the way for everyone who needs them, helping life to go on in the face of dying, death and bereavement.
